Description

Delightfully simple bagels made with just three ingredients, offering a warm, chewy texture and a nutty poppy seed topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • Optional: 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out. Knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope about 7–8 inches long.
  5. Shape each rope into a ring, pinching the ends to seal.
  6. Place bagel rings on the prepared baking sheet about 1–2 inches apart.
  7. If using an egg wash, beat the egg and brush over the tops, then sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  8. Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown, and broil for an optional 1–2 minutes for extra color.
  9. Cool slightly on a rack and serve warm or toasted.

Notes

For a crisper crust, cool on a rack rather than on the baking sheet. These bagels can be frozen for up to 2 months; thaw at room temperature or toast from frozen.
