Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a Bundt pan thoroughly.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread evenly. Tap gently on the counter to release air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate to cool completely.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake and let set before slicing.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add chocolate chips or espresso powder. Can be made gluten-free or vegan with adjustments.
