Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Cinnamon sugar for coating (approx. 1/4 cup sugar + 1/2-1 teaspoon cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and beat until smooth.
  4. Add the flour mixture to wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1–1.25 inches) and create an indent in each ball.
  7. Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of cream cheese filling into each indent.
  8. Mix cinnamon sugar and roll each filled bite until lightly coated.
  9. Place on baking sheet, 1 inch apart, and bake for 15–20 minutes until edges are golden.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5–10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, avoid overfilling with cream cheese and check doneness visually. You can also refrigerate filled dough balls for up to 24 hours before baking.
