Description

Delicious bite-sized French toast roll-ups filled with a soft custard center and coated in cinnamon-sugar, perfect for a cozy breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread (white or brioche)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons (25 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon-sugar mixture by mixing the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla in a shallow dish until smooth.
  3. Flatten the bread slices into 4×5-inch rectangles using a rolling pin or hands.
  4. Spread softened butter on each slice, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar, and roll tightly, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add melted butter, and dip each roll-up in the egg mixture briefly.
  6. Cook the roll-ups seam side down until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Serve immediately while warm, removing toothpicks if used.

Notes

For a vegan version, use non-dairy milk and a flax egg. Serve with syrup and fresh fruit for a complete meal.
