Description
A tender and moist banana bread studded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 to 1¼ cups)
- 1/3 cup melted butter (about 76 g)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (about 120 g)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 90 g)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment.
- Mash the 3 ripe bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth with small lumps for texture.
- Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- Sprinkle the baking soda and a pinch of salt over the mixture and stir.
- Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts. Transfer batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool before slicing.
Notes
For a vegan version, replace butter with coconut oil and the egg with a flax egg. Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
