Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (packed, ~220 g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (≈340 g) chocolate chips
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Roll the dough into portions (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place on the baking sheet, flatten each slightly.
  8. Use the heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts from the flattened dough.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers look set but still soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes
