Description

Warm banana and peanut butter encased in glossy dark chocolate for a comforting snack. These bites are nostalgic, indulgent, and packed with protein, making them a perfect after-school or post-workout treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium bananas (ripe but firm)
  • 1/2 cup (128 g) creamy peanut butter (stirred, room temperature)
  • 4 ounces (113 g) dark or semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
  • Sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)
  • Chopped toasted peanuts, coconut flakes, or crushed cereal for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Peel the bananas and slice into 1/2-inch rounds (you should get about 20–24 slices from 2 medium bananas).
  3. Spread about 1/2 teaspoon to 3/4 teaspoon of creamy peanut butter on each banana slice (adjust to taste).
  4. Melt the chocolate: place chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between intervals until smooth; or melt over a double boiler on low heat.
  5. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each peanut-butter-topped banana slice into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  6. Place the chocolate-dipped bites on the parchment-lined tray in a single layer. If using toppings, sprinkle immediately before the chocolate sets.
  7. Freeze for about 1–2 hours, until the chocolate is firm and the banana is chilled through.
  8. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the freezer. Enjoy straight from the freezer as a cool, protein-rich snack.

Notes

Work quickly after slicing bananas to prevent browning. If preferred, you can chill the peanut-butter-topped banana slices briefly before dipping for a neater coat.
