Description
Warm banana and peanut butter encased in glossy dark chocolate for a comforting snack. These bites are nostalgic, indulgent, and packed with protein, making them a perfect after-school or post-workout treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium bananas (ripe but firm)
- 1/2 cup (128 g) creamy peanut butter (stirred, room temperature)
- 4 ounces (113 g) dark or semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
- Sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)
- Chopped toasted peanuts, coconut flakes, or crushed cereal for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Peel the bananas and slice into 1/2-inch rounds (you should get about 20–24 slices from 2 medium bananas).
- Spread about 1/2 teaspoon to 3/4 teaspoon of creamy peanut butter on each banana slice (adjust to taste).
- Melt the chocolate: place chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between intervals until smooth; or melt over a double boiler on low heat.
- Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each peanut-butter-topped banana slice into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
- Place the chocolate-dipped bites on the parchment-lined tray in a single layer. If using toppings, sprinkle immediately before the chocolate sets.
- Freeze for about 1–2 hours, until the chocolate is firm and the banana is chilled through.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the freezer. Enjoy straight from the freezer as a cool, protein-rich snack.
Notes
Work quickly after slicing bananas to prevent browning. If preferred, you can chill the peanut-butter-topped banana slices briefly before dipping for a neater coat.
