Description

A sweet, silky frosting that pairs perfectly with cookies, cupcakes, and more.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups (about 240 g) powdered (confectioners’) sugar, sifted
  • 24 tablespoons milk or heavy cream (start with 2 tbsp)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of fine salt (about 1/16 tsp)

Instructions

  1. Sift the powdered sugar into a medium mixing bowl to remove lumps.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of milk (or cream), the vanilla extract, and the pinch of salt.
  3. Whisk vigorously until smooth and glossy, about 30–60 seconds.
  4. Check consistency and adjust liquid to reach desired thickness.
  5. Use immediately to frost cooled cookies, cupcakes, or cakes. Allow to set for 10–30 minutes at room temperature.

Notes

Always use room-temperature milk to avoid graininess. Sift powdered sugar to prevent lumps.
