Ingredients

- 2 cups (about 240 g) powdered (confectioners’) sugar, sifted
- 2–4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream (start with 2 tbsp)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- A pinch of fine salt (about 1/16 tsp)
Instructions
- Sift the powdered sugar into a medium mixing bowl to remove lumps.
- Add 2 tablespoons of milk (or cream), the vanilla extract, and the pinch of salt.
- Whisk vigorously until smooth and glossy, about 30–60 seconds.
- Check consistency and adjust liquid to reach desired thickness.
- Use immediately to frost cooled cookies, cupcakes, or cakes. Allow to set for 10–30 minutes at room temperature.
Notes
Always use room-temperature milk to avoid graininess. Sift powdered sugar to prevent lumps.
