- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Beignets are best eaten the day they’re made, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2–3 days. For optimal freshness, reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–7 minutes.
