Description

Elegant and fresh appetizer featuring cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and basil drizzled with olive oil and balsamic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1624 cherry or grape tomatoes (about 2 pints)
  • 1624 mini fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained (about 1216 oz total)
  • Fresh basil leaves (16–24 leaves)
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 12 teaspoons balsamic glaze or reduction (or 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar)
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1624 small wooden skewers or cocktail picks

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients: Rinse tomatoes and basil leaves; pat dry. Drain mozzarella and gently pat with paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Assemble skewers: On each skewer, thread in order—tomato, basil leaf (folded if large), mozzarella ball, and finish with another tomato if desired.
  3. Season lightly: Arrange skewers on a platter. Drizzle evenly with extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze or vinegar.
  4. Finish and serve: Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt and a crack of black pepper. Serve immediately or refrigerate briefly until guests arrive.

Notes

If assembling more than 30 minutes ahead, store components separately and finish dressing just before serving to avoid soggy basil.
